Analysis of the condition of your vintage car and assessment of its value
In case you would like to know the market or replacement value of your vintage car, the DEKRA-, GTÜ- or TÜV-experts will provide you with reliable support. They take every detail of your vehicle into account and provide you with a complete list of all technical data and assessments of the condition of each component. Of course, any modifications or restorations that have been carried out will be considered.
Depending on the situation, either the market or replacement value of your vintage car may be relevant for you.
- Market value: This is the price at which your vehicle could be sold on the private market over a certain period of time.
- Replacement value: This is the price at which a comparable vintage car can be purchased from a specialist trader.
In case of damage, your insurance determines which value is relevant. Some special insurances offer restoration cost coverage which also insures against repair costs that exceed the market value including reconstructions after a total loss. If the restoration value is insured, the market or replacement value may also be paid out.
The value appraisal is based on a detailed market survey and provides you with an extensive documentation of your car’s condition offering you the best possible basis for insurance claims as well as for purchase and sale.
There are also assessment reports, as a more cost-effective form of value appraisal. An assessment report only gives an overview of your vehicle’s condition and market value and can only be issued for vintage cars with a value of less than 50,000 euros.
Since the market is subject to constant change, we also recommend you to have your vehicle reappraised at reasonable intervals.
